Warwickshire County Council join the West Midlands Virtual Forest - January 2022

Four people gathered

The West Midlands Virtual Forest encourages local residents to get involved in making the region a greener, happier and healthier place by planting trees.

Whether a member of the public, community group, business, landowner or school, anyone can get involved in the project.

The virtual forest was launched two years ago to encourage people to get planting and since then, over 50,000 new trees have been planted and registered in the West Midlands.

The virtual forest platform is designed to record all new trees planted in the region.

Hear from Andy Street, Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and Cllr Heather Timms, Warwickshire County Council (WCC) Portfolio Holder for Environment, Climate & Culture about the WMCA Virtual Forest Platform and WCC's ambitious tree planting targets.

This meeting took place at the fledgling Children's Forest at Leasowe Farm in Radford Semele, which was funded using WCC's Green Shoots Community Climate Change Fund.
