Our plans

Warwickshire County Council is committed to reducing emissions from areas that we have direct control over, including our own transport, gas and bought electricity, to net zero by 2030.

We have also pledged to do everything within our power to lead Warwickshire as a county to be net zero by 2050 or sooner. In making this pledge, we have joined with UK100, a network of local authorities across the country to share knowledge, collaborate, and petition the UK government with their collective power.

A sustainable future is one of the three strategic priorities in our Council Plan:

We want to be a County with a sustainable future, which means adapting to and mitigating climate change and meeting net zero commitments, so that our generation ensures future generations can live well and reap the benefits of a sustainable and thriving Warwickshire”

This priority was informed by divisions across the council to develop our climate change mitigation report:

Work is now underway on a Sustainable Futures Strategy for WCC, which we expect to be published in the Autumn of 2022.
