Sustainable Warwickshire

Homeowners in Warwick are being encouraged to take advantage of a free scheme where they can improve the energy efficiency of their home, keeping them warmer and saving money.

Warwick District Council have secured funding for the Green Homes Grants scheme, which is open to private owner-occupied properties.

What’s available?

For households that are eligible for the scheme, E.ON will arrange a time to visit and carry out a free home survey. The survey takes around an hour to complete, which then helps Warwick District recommend the best improvements. The improvements provided depend on each home’s needs but could include any of the following:

• Solar PV panels
• Loft insulation
• Cavity wall insulation
• Smart heating controls
• Air source heat pumps
• External wall insulation

To be eligible, residents must:

• Own and live in their own home; and
• Have a gross household income of less than £30,000 year OR someone in the home receives a means tested benefit; and
• Live in a home that has an EPC rating of D, E, F or G; if the home doesn’t have an EPC then E.ON will arrange this, if the property is deemed to be energy inefficient

Funding is provided up to a maximum of £10,000 per property, subject to the terms and conditions of the grant, with the work carried out by a Trustmark registered contractor.

Funding information

Funding for this project has been obtained from The Sustainable Warmth Competition, a scheme run by the Department for Business Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) with the aim to help improve the energy efficiency of low-income households and improve the least energy-efficient properties free of charge.

This helps residents by improving the warmth and comfort of their homes, whilst reducing energy bills and carbon emissions.
